Family update

I don't have an exciting title for this post. We don't have a lot going on this week, but I thought I would write while I have a few minutes. Ethan had his six month shots yesterday. He did better this time than the previous two. He wasn't his usual happy self, but that's probably to be expected. In the past week, he has started to get his little toes into his mouth. They must taste pretty good, because he sure seems to enjoy sucking on them.
As for Ben and I, well, it's pretty much the same old stuff. Ben's enjoying being done with his internship. He keeps saying how glad he is that it's over. He's been going fishing in the evenings several times a week. It's been pretty nice here lately. I am keeping busy with the kids. I have been going to the gym in the evenings (after Ben gets done fishing) with a friend of mine. We are going to run in a 5K race this Thursday evening. I am so much slower than I used to be....it's sad, really. Anyway, we won't win or anything, but I enjoy the atmosphere of a race and it should be a good time.

Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit Ethan (and us) this weekend. We had a great weekend together and Ethan loves all the attention.

Grandpa always plays peek-a-boo with Ethan and he just loves it. The rest of us can play the game with Ethan, but no one can do it like Grandpa. He kicks his legs and squeals with such excitement. There's nothing better.

6 Months

My baby turned 6 months old yesterday. Ethan is such a big boy. We had the well check today and he is doing great at 21 lbs. 1 oz. and 28 1/4" long. He's in the 95th percentile for weight and 90th for height. So...good news...at least he is proportional and he's not off the charts, like I was expecting!
Ethan is so much fun right now. He's getting great at eating food (not that anyone was concerned about the amount of food he's getting!) He's spending lots of time on his tummy and starting to try to move a little. He's also learning all sorts of new sounds. He's mastered the mmmm sound and uses it a lot when he is eating, which is really fun. In the past couple of days, he has been trying to get the b-b-b-b-b sound with his lips and he's so funny because he can't quite figure it out. Here's a little video of him trying. So cute....

Grandpa Norman

Last Wednesday Ben's Grandpa Norman passed away. He died after an awful car accident that also took the life of a teenager. It has been a sad week. One of the things Ben loved most about going home was being able to hunt or fish with Grandpa. He will be sorely missed. There were so many people at the funeral to celebrate his life and honor his memory. I think he was a very lucky man to have so many people who cared so much about him.

Norman was a volunteer fireman for many years and he got his last ride in an antique fire engine at his funeral Monday. He would have loved that. Norman was a great man who leaves us with so many great memories, stories, smiles, and love.

Grammy & Aunt Vicki

Grammy and Aunt Vicki came to see Ethan these past few days. He got so much love and attention--What a lucky boy! If you look close, you can see Ethan's little cousin there in the second picture, although I think Vicki was trying to hide behind Ethan :-) We are definitely excited to have a new member of the family coming soon!

We took Ethan to the park yesterday and tried out the swings for the first time. He wasn't overly excited, but he didn't seem to mind them and we got a cute picture of him smiling at Grammy.
