Kisses

We just got back from a weekend wedding. Our neighbor got married this weekend in Illinois, so we packed up and took off. We even stayed at a hotel, which I haven't done in probably 5 years. We had a great time and Ethan made the trip well.
As I am typing this, Ben is working his last intern call night ever! We are both so excited that he is done with his internship. He also got his permanent physician license in the mail over the weekend, which is pretty cool! Great job, Benj....you made it!
Ethan is so much fun right now. Ben mentioned the other day that he was going to miss him at this age and I totally agree. He is learning and discovering new things every day and he is almost always happy. Check out this video. It's so cute. He gives us these "kisses" that are sometimes pretty wet, but it's so worth it.

Rollin'

I've told you that Ethan can roll over, but it occurred to me that I hadn't caught him on video. Here he is doing a back to belly roll. He's getting pretty good!

And just for fun, here are a couple of cute pictures of Ethan and Lexie. They are getting more and more interested in each other all the time. Ethan has really been wanting to reach out and touch her lately. I'm not sure how Lexie feels about it, but she seems to tolerate him!

Happy Father's Day!

We've had a nice weekend. Ben had his intern banquet last night and so we left Ethan with the Schuermann's (Thanks again, Lauren and Erick!) and went out for the evening. It was really nice to celebrate the end of internship. Ben was so sweet and got me a dozen roses that he gave me when we got to there last night! I was so impressed. What a great husband I have! Ethan and I are so lucky. Happy Father's day to you, Ben! We love you.
We are also wishing our Dads a Happy Father's Day! You are both so wonderful to us. Hope you have a great day!

In other Ethan news...
He finally rolled over, all the way. He'd been going from his back to his belly and a couple of days ago he accomplished the belly to back part! Yay for Ethan!

Two Things

We found out two things tonight. First of all, green beans make Ethan gag. And, second of all, Ethan can go to sleep without crying!! We were so excited. I washed up his bottles and had to go check on him to see what was wrong; I hadn't heard a peep out of him. He was asleep! Success! At least for tonight....hopefully this will become a habit; it was a great evening!

Tickles

Ethan has been pretty cute this week. Actually, I always think he's cute, but it's been a fun week. He's doing a little better sleeping on his own. It seems like he needs some time to cry as he goes to bed and then he goes down fine. We gave him carrots for the first time this week. I think he really enjoys them. He goes after the spoon like crazy. Daddy also found out that Ethan is a little ticklish. Check out the video below the pictures. It's pretty funny to hear him "laugh." Poor kid, we shouldn't do that to him. I hate having my feet tickled!

Chewing

Here just a fun video of Ethan chewing on Daddy's finger. As much as he drools and likes to chew on everything, I keep thinking that he must be getting close to a tooth. But, no sign of one yet.

Sorry the video is sideways...I couldn't figure out how to flip it on my computer. I'll try to mess with it more later. If I get it figured out, I'll re-upload it.

Practicing

Ethan and I have been practicing this week. He's been practicing his new move. A lot of the time, he will roll right over onto his tummy when I put him on the floor now. The problem with him turning over, is that he gets stuck. He hasn't figured out the other half of the roll. We went in to check on him this morning and found him on his belly, face down. I guess he is even turning over in his sleep. He also got stuck today in his little play gym. We need to work on the belly to back roll a little more!

I have been practicing this feeding stuff. As you can see from them picture below, I still need a little work. I know he's making some of the mess, but really I'm not so good at this either! He seemed to really enjoy the food tonight, which makes meal time kind of fun for both of us.

5 Months

My baby is 5 months old today! We had a couple of "firsts" today, too. He is finally rolling over. We have been working with him really hard and he accomplished the back to belly roll today. He's a big boy; it takes a lot of effort for him to roll himself over, so we were pretty excited. We also gave Ethan his first food today--rice cereal. I'm not sure he knew quite what to think of the whole thing, but he did great and got some of it down (the rest ended up on his bib!) We have also made a couple of larger purchases these past few weeks. First of all, I got a changing table, which I am super excited about. Now I don't have to change all those diapers on the floor! Second, we got Ethan his high chair, which he tried out for the first time today eating his supper. And lastly, we got ourselves a van while we were home. That's right....we are now officially a family. Ben and I were so tired of putting Ethan in and out of our Taurus and stuffing all of his things in the little trunk, so we bit the bullet and just did it. And, we are so glad we did! We have absolutely loved having it so far and it's only been a week.

As I said, we had a great time at home. Ben got to go fishing and the whole family enjoyed some Ethan time. Some of my favorite moments were watching Ethan get so excited playing peek-a-boo and also watching him play with some newspaper. He must really love the crinkling sound it makes. Ben and I also celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary while we were at home. I can't believe it's been that long; it just keeps getting better and better. We took a ton of pictures during our week at home. I'm going to go through them and try to post some of our favorites tomorrow. For now, I am just glad to be home and I'm off to enjoy my own bed tonight!

Vacation at home

We are having a great time at home with our family. Ben had this past week off, so we headed back to Kansas. We saw all of Ethan's grandparents, great grandparents, and his great great grandpa plus lots of other family and friends. There's stories to tell, but I'll do that another time. We are heading to KC tomorrow and then finally back home.
I just wanted to share a couple of fun pictures from this week!
