Celebrating

Wyatt's first birthday is on Wednesday, but we celebrated this weekend because Ben will be in Kansas City again this week. Wyatt enjoyed his cake. It took him a little bit to get started, but once he dug in he had cake everywhere and he loved it!

He got to open his presents, too. Actually, Ethan opened his presents. Wy wasn't interested in the the wrapping paper at all and just kept crawling away. He did like what was inside, though. He got a tent and tunnel set and a water table. Both boys had a great time playing with the new toys!

I just can't believe Wyatt is turning 1 this week! He's our little cutie pie!

We have grandmas and grandpas coming in this week to help us celebrate, too. So, there will be more lots more birthday fun!

First Haircut

The boys both got their hair cut today. It was Wyatt's first real haircut. He's had it trimmed around his ears, but today he got the whole deal. And they both did really well and are so, so cute! Wy lost his fluffy baby hair and now looks like a little boy! After we got done at the hair place, Ethan asked to play at the park, so I snapped some photos of them playing.
Here's a picture of the boys before the cut.

Wyatt's new 'do....she spiked it up, so he's looking pretty cool here.

Love these boys!

Boys

I haven't posted very much about what's going on with boys for awhile, so I thought I would update.

Ethan has been really fun lately. He still has his two year old moments, but most of the time he is happy as can be and loves to make people laugh. He sings all the time--BINGO, Row your boat, ABC, Twinkle Twinkle, etc. It cracks me up. He is trying to learn to recognize his letters and can spell his name now. He copies everything. And I mean everything, all the time and then repeats it over and over. He is having fun with his brother now. I love seeing them laugh together. He has gotten quite a bit taller this summer and has thinned out a bit. He wants to go with me everywhere and asks to hold every receipt that we get (and gets very upset if we don't get one!) Who ever heard of a kid who with a receipt fetish?!? He is super observant and learns things so fast. He's very particular about how things are done and where we put things--he may have inherited that from me....
Seriously, he is such a fun little guy and we love hearing all the things he says and watching him learn new things everyday.

Wyatt is crawling everywhere. He cruises all over our house, too. I never know where I am going to find him. I thought that he would start to walk soon, but now that he has learned to crawl so well, he has lost interest, so I think it will be another month or two for those steps. We'll see. He has had a rough go of it with teething lately. And just my luck, his worst pain ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night. He's got 7 teeth in now and I think more are on the way with all the drooling and chewing. He loves to have books read to him, be outside, and play with big brother. He babbles all the time (with Ethan copying him, they sound like they have their own little conversation). We are trying to transition him to sippy cups, whole milk, and regular food right now. He's doing pretty well. He's going to miss his bottles, though. Wyatt is such a laid back, happy boy and so cute. We can't believe he will turn one in just a couple weeks!

Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend around here. My parents came to town and helped us out a ton. I had a bunch of car trouble on the way home last weekend--like the car died about 30 or more times in the last 2 hours of the trip. We made it home, but I was not going to drive the car any kind of long distance again. It was pretty scary by myself with two little boys. Anyway, I tried to take the car in to get fixed on Friday. It was really unclear what was wrong with it and any potential fixes were going to cost quite a bit of money with no guarantee. So, I talked Ben into letting me get a different van on Saturday! We found a nice one here in town and just went for it. Ben and my Dad spent some time on Saturday (after buying a new van) fixing the air conditioning in his car. He has had some hot trips back and forth from KC this summer. Ben and I then got to go out Saturday night to the intern and resident banquet. Between the car troubles and the banquet we really needed some help with the boys the past few days.
The boys had a great time playing with MeMa and PaPa. Ethan and PaPa looked for cicadas a lot (Ethan's favorite activity the past couple weeks) and we played at the park several times. We even celebrated Father's Day a week early, since Ben is on call and won't be home next week. It was a super busy, but really fun weekend for all of us! Thanks Mom and Dad for everything!

Norman's Firehouse

The whole Schrant family came together this weekend to celebrate the renaming of Victoria's Fire Station in honor of Ben's Grandpa Norman, who passed away a couple years ago. He was a firemen for 38 years and was Victoria's fire chief for 9. It was such a nice day and it's so great that everyone could be there. Norman would have been proud.

The firemen were so nice and let the kids climb around in the fire trucks. Ethan loved it. We couldn't keep him out.
They even let the kids set off the sirens. Ethan was the first to do it and he was so shocked when he pushed the button. He had so much fun and pushed that button a few too many times, I think!

It's been a long time since we were all home together. We had a great time!
