My boys

Ethan is still coughing, but seems to be feeling a little better today. I, on the other hand, have gotten sick all over again. I thought that I was done, but now my throat is all sore and I have a nasty cough!
Oh and we seem to be living in a swamp right now. If you've been to visit us lately, you've probably noticed the large pond we have in our backyard. There's a low spot in the back where water collects whenever it rains, and it has rained a lot this past week. Well, evidently all the local toads and crickets have discovered a new home. They are so loud and it honestly sounds like we are living right next to a swamp. At first, I thought it was kind of neat to hear the "nature." Now, I am just wishing for a little quiet!
I did get a few cute photos of Ethan earlier today and I thought that I would share. The first one is a great shot of my favorite boys. The second one we took just because his shirt was soaked! He drools so much and he's not even teething. I can't imagine what we are in for.

Colds

Not much has been going on here this week. Ben had a cold last week. He graciously passed it on to me, so I was sick during the first part of the week and now, unfortunately, Ethan has his first cold. Poor little guy--I hate that he doesn't feel well. The weather has been nicer this week, though and we have been able to go out for a couple of walks and enjoy the warmer temperatures. Ben is going turkey hunting tomorrow morning and he's pretty excited about that. I just don't understand how getting up at 4:30 is considered fun....but that's just me. Ethan has been learning how to grasp toys a little bit this week. It's super fun to see him wrap his little fingers around things. Lauren and Lexie also came over to visit us a couple days ago so that we could kind of get the feel of things. I'll start watching Lexie a week from Monday. I guess that's about it for our family this week. Here's another fun picture of Ethan from last weekend.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa came to see us this weekend! We had such a good time and really appreciate you making the effort to come visit. My mom just had surgery on Wednesday, but it didn't stop them from coming to see their favorite grandson (and their only one!) Here are some fun pictures from the weekend. Whimpers

We have been working on getting Ethan to go to sleep on his own. It's not going super well, but we are trying. Anyway, I set him down for a nap the other day and he was so tired all he could do was whimper. Funny kid....

Friends

Here's Ethan with his little friend Lexie! She is going to come play with us everyday in a couple of weeks when her mama goes back to work. We're excited to have fun with you Lexie!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! We aren't doing anything very exciting around here. Ethan is too little for Easter eggs and such, so we just went to church this morning and are enjoying a day together. Ethan did get a package from each of his grandparents for Easter, so don't worry, he didn't go without. Here's Ethan with Mommy and then with Daddy. We were home alone, so this is as good as it gets for a family picture today.


We've been having a lot of fun with Ethan looking at himself in the mirror lately. He smiles and giggles when he sees the little boy looking back at him.

Here's Ethan's sad face. It's neat to see him discover different emotions. We shouldn't laugh when he gets sad, but he's just got the cutest little pout; we can't help it!

This video is of Ethan "talking." Just this past week he has really started babbling a lot. I get to have all sorts of conversations with him throughout the day. What fun!

As a little bonus--watch him chewing on his tongue. Lately, he's been doing that constantly....funny boy.

Weekend in KC

We went to Kansas City for the weekend to see our good friends Matt and Laura and Ben's brother and our sister-in-law Danny and Vicki. We had such a great time visiting, eating out, playing games, and such. Danny and Vicki even treated us to a night of fondue that was super good! Below are pictures of everyone with Ethan. I just have to say...both of these are better pictures than Ben and I ever take with him! We need to work on getting a better family picture. Thanks for the fun weekend guys!

First Day

Yesterday was a big day for Ben. It was his first day of Anesthesia!! He's pretty happy to be done with the rotations. Now he is finally doing what he wants to do. It almost feels like he is starting his career...it's about time! He said his first day went fine. He was also on call for the first time last night. He got home from work around 5:00 and then about 15 minutes later his pager went off. So, back to the hospital he went. He was there for about 2 hours and was able to come back and spend a little time with Ethan before he went to bed. Luckily, he didn't get called in the middle of the night. That's pretty good, I'd say!
Congrats Benj...I'm so proud of how far you have come!
