Dr. Schrant

We made it! Ben is now officially a doctor! It was a great weekend and a wonderful celebration of Ben's accomplishment. We are all so proud of him. It was so fun to see all of our friends and family. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Here are a few pictures of the BIG day!

Pretty toes

Yesterday I decided to go get a pedicure at Color Me Red salon. I won a gift certificate at an SAA meeting in April--let's not even talk about what I had to do to win it, though....totally embarrasing (thanks, Laura!) Hopefully, anyone who was there has blocked it from their memory! But, I have to say...the humiliation may have been worth it. They brought me into this seperate room and had on the soothing music with beach noises. I sat on a couch and enjoyed the foot bath, as they turned down the lights for me. I really thought I was going to fall asleep; I was just so relaxed. Then she massaged each of my feet and calves for about 10 minutes each. It was so nice! This was definitely the best pedicure I've ever had! Here's a picture of my pretty toes....Fair warning.....don't look, if you don't like feet pictures!!

Graduation Week

Well, this is it. We've been working--okay, mostly Ben has been working, and I have been waiting--for this week to come for 4 years now (8 years if you count undergrad!) Ben graduates on Saturday.
Dr. Benjamin Schrant...sounds pretty good, I think!
We've been busy preparing for the big day cleaning our house, shopping for groceries, and making food for our little gathering. We still have so much to do. I'm so excited to see all of our friends back in Kirksville and to have our families come to celebrate Ben's achievement. I'm so proud of Benj and I can't believe that we are done! I mean, we still have four years of residency, but to have medical school over is such a relief. Ben can finally start earning some money for all the hard work and long hours he puts in!

Nothing Much...

Well, there’s not a whole lot to tell you since I last posted. Things have just been rolling along. We did have a garage sale on Saturday with some of our friends. I have never done a garage sale before, so it was a new experience for me. We didn’t make tons of money on our stuff, but Ben and I really like to de-clutter, so getting those things out of the house was great! It was so cold on Saturday morning, though! I had to pull out my winter coat and we still about froze; at least Laura had a garage that we could be in.

Ben is coming home today. He’s been back in Hays camping with a couple of his medical school buddies. I cannot believe that graduation is next weekend! That seems crazy. We are planning a little gathering at our house for after the ceremony. It will be so great to have all of our family here to help celebrate. We really appreciate everyone making the trip out to see Ben! We know it’s a long way!

Oh, and speaking of family…it’s Grandpa Schrant’s birthday today. So, Happy Birthday Norman!

Ben's Canoe Trip

Benj just got back last night from his canoe trip. He and his friend from high school, Keegan, went down to canoe on the Current River in Southern Missouri. This is the second time that they have done a trip like this together and Ben loves it down there. They get to float on a beautiful river, explore in caves, and just enjoy some good 'ole man-time outside. Ben needs his man-time every now and then. Evidently, he hasn't had enough, either, because he is bringing several of his medical school buddies back to Hays to camp there next week. I don't think Mom Schrant knows about this yet.....Ben is supposed to call you!

Anyway here are some of the pictures Ben took:
